New Zealand Judge Rules Kim Dotcom Raid Was Illegal

Law360, New York (June 28, 2012, 6:37 PM EDT) -- New Zealand's high court ruled Thursday that the police raid on the home of the infamous founder of file-sharing and alleged piracy site, Kim Dotcom, was "illegal," saying invalid search warrants were not specific enough.

Judge Helen Winkelmann found the warrants used in January to raid Dotcom’s home — which resulted in the seizure of an estimated 150 terabytes of data — were invalid, saying they inaccurately described the offense and furthermore did not provide enough detail.
