Judge Kills Animal-Testing Suit Against Estee, Mary Kay

Law360, New York (June 29, 2012, 12:19 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Thursday tossed a proposed class action claiming Estee Lauder Inc. and Mary Kay Inc. falsely advertised they never tested their products on animals, saying the plaintiffs hadn't shown they'd actually been hurt by the alleged lies.

U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney said four California women didn't have standing to sue the cosmetics giants, which the plaintiffs claimed had begun animal testing in order to sell their products in China while continuing to advertise their cosmetics as “cruelty free.”
