Suit Alleges Starbucks Stole Coffeemaker Design

Law360, New York (September 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Starbucks Inc. has been accused in a $10 million infringement lawsuit of ripping off the trade dress and design of a non-electric coffeemaker the company has sold for 20 years.

Bodum USA Inc. and Pi-Design AG filed suit last Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, charging Starbucks with counts of trade dress and patent infringement as well as unfair competition and violation of an Illinois deceptive trade statute.
