Northrop Takes Wage Rounding Claims To Arbitration

Law360, Los Angeles (July 2, 2012, 4:05 PM EDT) -- A California judge on Monday stayed a proposed class action accusing Northrop Grumman Corp. of stiffing its technology workers on overtime pay and denying them mandatory meal and rest periods, saying the lead plaintiff is contractually bound to arbitrate the claims.

U.S. District Judge Manuel Real said aircraft mechanic Alan Zinzow was bound by an arbitration agreement in a 2006 employment contract with Northrop Grumman. The arbitration provision in Zinzow's contract is enforceable under the Federal Arbitration Act and covers all claims asserted in the lawsuit,...
