NJ Gov. OKs Bill To Clean Industrial Sites With Tax Refunds

Law360, New York (July 10, 2012, 7:39 PM EDT) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Monday approved legislation that will take property tax refunds for vacant or underutilized industrial sites facing environmental cleanup orders and funnel that money to the state for remediation work.

Proponents of the bill, which received final approval from the Democrat-controlled state Legislature in June, have said it would give New Jersey another tool to hold polluters responsible for contaminated properties and aid in the cleanup such sites.
