Mich. Judge Pares State Claims In Compressor Antitrust MDL

Law360, New York (July 11, 2012, 2:20 PM EDT) -- A Michigan federal judge on Tuesday tossed several state antitrust and consumer protection claims in multidistrict litigation over an alleged price-fixing conspiracy for refrigerant compressors, finding indirect purchasers had to have lived in or suffered an injury in the state to bring claims.

U.S. District Judge Sean F. Cox partially granted motions brought by Panasonic Corp., Whirlpool Corp., Embraco North America Inc. and other defendants seeking to dismiss claims brought under the laws of almost a dozen states, including Arkansas, Hawaii, Louisiana and Vermont.
