San Francisco Spurns Macs After Apple Drops Enviro Rating

Law360, New York (July 11, 2012, 8:31 PM EDT) -- San Francisco officials announced Tuesday that the city will likely suspend its purchases of Mac-branded computers after Apple Inc. quit a voluntary environmental rating program for electronics developed and run by EPEAT Inc.

While the California city is the first to officially put Apple on notice that its withdrawal from the rating system, which stands for Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool, will mean its products are not eligible to be purchased with city funds, it is not expected to be the last.
