LTL Shipment Industry Hit With Fuel Surcharge Suit

Law360, New York (September 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The less-than-truckload shipment industry became the latest to be hit by a proposed class action over fuel surcharges, after a chemical company sued shipping giants such as Fedex Corp. and the United Parcel Service Inc. for conspiring to fix prices on charges for diesel.

LTLs are services providing freight shipment, for carriage by truck, when the freight shipped by a customer is less than one truckload. LTL shipments nearly always weigh between 300 and 10,000 pounds.
