Merscorp Reforms Will End Del. AG's Suit Over Mortgage Data

Law360, Wilmington (July 13, 2012, 6:14 PM EDT) -- Delaware’s attorney general said Friday that Merscorp Inc., operator of a nationwide mortgage database, has agreed to reforms to settle the state’s lawsuit accusing the company of fueling the foreclosure crisis through deceptive trade practices.

MERS, as the company and its database are commonly known, resolved the suit by making concessions to the state designed to bolster the accuracy and transparency of its records and aid homeowners facing foreclosure, according to a statement from Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden.
