German Court Rules Motorola Tablets Don't Infringe IPad

Law360, New York (July 17, 2012, 2:46 PM EDT) -- A court in Germany handed Google Inc.'s Motorola Mobility a victory Tuesday, finding its Xoom tablet didn't infringe the design of the iPad and blocking Apple Inc.'s attempts to ban sales of the device in Europe.

Motorola Mobility, acquired by Google in May, confirmed the decision in a brief statement to Law360. A district court in Dusseldorf, Germany, ruled that Motorola's Xoom did not infringe the protected design of Apple's iPad and declined to grant Apple's bid to have the Xoom banned across the European Union,...
