Toys 'R' Us Insurer Sues Ex-Marketing Exec For Fraud

Law360, New York (July 20, 2012, 8:16 PM EDT) -- An insurer for Toys “R” Us Inc. has filed suit in New Jersey against a former marketing director with the retailer who allegedly misappropriated nearly $3.3 million through a bogus vendor that she surreptitiously owned and controlled.

Defendant Barbara Brown retained CEM Direct Marketing Services for Wayne, N.J.-headquartered TRU, but it produced no actual work despite billing the company millions of dollars, according to the July 17 complaint that Federal Insurance Co. filed in Bergen County Superior Court.
