Doctors' Groups Sanctioned In Wellpoint Conspiracy MDL

Law360, New York (July 26, 2012, 6:07 PM EDT) -- A Florida federal judge on Wednesday sanctioned several state doctors’ associations and doctors, saying they were in contempt for failing to withdraw claims that Wellpoint Inc. conspired to keep down reimbursements in multidistrict litigation in California, after the managed care plan provider settled similar claims in Florida.

U.S. District Judge Federico A. Moreno granted in part Wellpoint’s motion for sanctions, ordering the California Medical Association, Medical Association of Georgia and Connecticut Medical Society to pay $500 per month as coercive sanctions until they withdraw their claims...
