Glaxo Hit With Wrongful Death Suit Over Avandia

Law360 (October 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Fresh from surviving regulatory scrutiny over its controversial diabetes medication, British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline is now battling claims by a Texas widow that the drug killed her husband.

In a first amended complaint filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Peggie Stanford of Dallas claims the drug company was negligent in the marketing of the prescription drug rosiglitazone, which sells in the U.S. under the brand names Avandia, Avandamet and Avandaryl.
