Ryder Escapes Md. Suit Over Refueling Costs

Law360, New York (July 30, 2012, 6:23 PM EDT) -- A Maryland federal judge on Monday dismissed a putative class action alleging Ryder Truck Rental Inc. overcharged customers for fueling their rental trucks by rounding up fractions to the nearest gallon without disclosing the estimation to customers.

U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake tossed the suit brought by baked goods distribution company Soft Stuff Distributors Inc., finding that the company failed to prove that Ryder had engaged in fraud when it sent invoices including the cost of gas in whole-gallon increments, as logic would dictate that...
