2 Japanese Cos. Sign On To Freeport Liquefaction Project

Law360, New York (July 31, 2012, 4:57 PM EDT) -- Freeport LNG Expansion LP on Tuesday lined up two major Japanese customers — Osaka Gas Co. Ltd. and Chubu Electric Power Co. Inc. — for its planned natural gas liquefaction and export terminal in southeastern Texas despite the U.S. moratorium on LNG exports.

Osaka and Chubu, both among Japan's biggest power providers, will each pay an undisclosed rate to have Freeport process 2.2 million tons of natural gas annually at a liquefaction plant that is still awaiting permits from the U.S. government, according to the parties....
