EBay Hit With Class Action Over 'Buy It Now' Fee

Law360, New York (July 31, 2012, 8:11 PM EDT) -- EBay Inc. was nailed with a proposed class action in California federal court on Monday by a user claiming the company sometimes removes items from auction too soon and doesn’t compensate the sellers.

Plaintiff Luis Rosado said in his complaint that many sellers pay the fee required to use eBay’s “Buy It Now” option, which enables sellers to set a fixed price that buyers can choose instead of going through the auction process. The “Buy It Now” selling option has a set time period.
