Chevron Can't Shake Ecuador's $19B Enviro Judgment

Law360, New York (July 31, 2012, 9:40 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Tuesday declined to find that an Ecuadorean court’s $19.2 billion pollution-related judgment against Chevron Corp. is unenforceable, saying evidence of fraud surrounding the penalty is alarming but not necessarily relevant or beyond dispute.

The decision was handed down as part of a racketeering lawsuit Chevron is pursuing against the Ecuadoreans’ lead attorney, Steven Donzinger, whom it accuses of wide-ranging misconduct leading up to the massive fine.
