2 Ex-Ill. Public Officials, Others Deny Corruption Schemes

Law360, Chicago (August 1, 2012, 4:37 PM EDT) -- Two former Chicago-area public officials and a group of businessmen pled not guilty in federal court on Wednesday to charges that they participated in various bribery and extortion schemes tied to business at public health facilities.

Former Cook County Commissioner Joseph Mario Moreno and former Chicago Alderman Ambrosio Medrano both denied the criminal allegations, which include charges that they received kickbacks for their help in getting a public Cook County hospital to buy bandages from fellow defendants Stanley Wozniak and Gerald W. Lombardi.
