Ex-Officials Of Calif. City Cop To Taking Pot Shop Bribes

Law360, New York (August 3, 2012, 9:10 PM EDT) -- The former mayor of Cudahy, Calif., and a former Cudahy city council member pled guilty to bribery and extortion charges in California federal court Thursday after admitting to taking bribes in exchange for supporting the opening of a medical marijuana dispensary.

Ex-mayor David Silva and former council member Osvaldo Conde face a maximum of 30 years in prison, but Silva's attorney, Patrick Aguirre, told Law360 on Friday that he thought a fair sentence for his client would be probation.
