Hartford Can't Shake Claims Of Inflated Insurance Costs

Law360, New York (August 3, 2012, 4:09 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge ruled Wednesday that a putative class action against Trumbull Insurance Co. and Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. over allegedly inflated workers' compensation insurance premiums could move forward, denying the defense's motions to dismiss claims of unjust enrichment and breach of contract.

NBL Flooring Inc. sued the insurers in August 2010, contending that they improperly charged policyholders for covering independent contractors, who do not need to be covered under Pennsylvania law. NBL seeks to represent a statewide class of employers who purchased policies...
