Music Industry Relents In Litigation Against Charter Communications

Law360 (July 10, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Recording Industry Association of America has given up on its effort to compel cable provider Charter Communications Inc. to turn over the names of customers suspected of illegally trading music files over the internet.

The RIAA chose to allow a recent deadline to file an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court expire rather than pursue the case further, the organization said.
