House Dem Proposes Stricter Wartime Contract Oversight

Law360, New York (August 8, 2012, 5:21 PM EDT) -- Rep. John Tierney, D-Mass., on Tuesday floated legislation that would require more rigorous oversight of federal contracts in war zones, aiming to reduce fraud and abuse as well as prevent funding for costly projects that are unsustainable without continuing U.S. assistance.

Tierney, the ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform's National Security Subcommittee, introduced the Oversight and Accountability in Wartime Contracting Act during a pro forma session of Congress in an attempt to stop wasteful contracting practices during wartime.
