Contractor Cops To $1.27M Iraqi Reconstruction Fraud

Law360, New York (August 10, 2012, 5:02 PM EDT) -- The former co-owner of a U.S. government contracting company pled guilty in Texas federal court on Thursday to falsely billing the U.S. government $1.27 million for a range of operational costs, including the lease of a Baghdad villa and the purchase of several Humvees, that proved to be fictional.

Jill Ann Charpia, who once headed the civilian contracting firm Sourcing Specialist LLC, copped to one count of making false statements to the U.S. Department of Defense about company costs associated with a Baghdad construction project. ...
