NJ Court Halts $7M Wind Turbine Project

Law360, New York (August 10, 2012, 5:09 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey appeals court on Friday put the skids on a controversial $7 million wind turbine project proposed by the sewerage authority in Union Beach, overturning a lower court decision that had allowed the authority to move forward over town officials' objections.

The appeals court found that the state coastal environmental permit obtained by Bayshore Regional Sewerage Authority to build the 380-foot wind turbine did not supersede the authority of local municipalities in making land use decisions.
