United Blasts La. For Tapping Blue Cross For Health Contract

Law360, New York (August 14, 2012, 4:21 PM EDT) -- United HealthCare Services Inc. has protested a decision by the Louisiana Office of Group Benefits to award a contract to manage state employee health insurance plans to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, saying the Blue Cross contract would cost the state nearly $30 million more than the proposed United contract.

In the protest statement, dated Aug. 3 and publicly released last week, United said that under the scoring system the OGB uses to evaluate contracts, it was ahead on every measure except health care...
