Bayer Seeks Centralization Of NJ Mirena Litigation

Law360, New York (August 14, 2012, 7:53 PM EDT) -- Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals Inc. has requested the centralized management of 16 lawsuits in New Jersey state court accusing the company of defectively making the contraceptive Mirena and failing to adequately warn consumers, the state court system announced Tuesday.

Noting the large and likely growing number of plaintiffs and their common allegations, counsel for Bayer said in an Aug. 9 application to the Administrative Office of the Courts that centralizing the litigation would ensure judicial economy and the expeditious handling of the matters.
