DOD Could Improve Energy Focus In Acquisitions, Report Says

Law360, New York (August 15, 2012, 8:59 PM EDT) -- Although the U.S. Department of Defense's planned 2013 budget makes important investments in the military's energy security, the military services could do more to ensure that energy security and efficiency are built into future acquisitions, according to a DOD report Wednesday.

The report, by Sharon E. Burke, the assistant secretary of defense for operational energy programs, certifies that the DOD's proposed 2013 budget meets the DOD's strategic energy strategy goals, including a $9 billion collection of planned investments aimed at improving energy use in military operations...
