Sun Life Loses Bid To Move Death Benefits Suit To Mass.

Law360, Philadelphia (August 17, 2012, 2:00 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Tuesday denied Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada’s attempt to transfer to Massachusetts a putative class action alleging the company misrepresented death benefits, finding no justification for moving the case out of the state.

Sun Life had argued that the suit, which contended that the company had underpaid a benefit specified under the policy, should be handled in Massachusetts, both for the sake of convenience and because the state had compelling reasons for handling a class action involving a large Massachusetts...
