AMC Networks Wins Round In 'Tabloid' Star's Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (August 16, 2012, 10:47 PM EDT) -- A California judge on Thursday struck down a civil theft claim brought against AMC Networks Inc. and others by the subject of Errol Morris’ 2010 documentary “Tabloid,” six months after he had ended her defamation and misappropriation of likeness claims against the Oscar-winning director.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James A. Steele granted a demurrer motion brought by AMC, IFC Films LLC, Cablevision Systems Corp., and several other defendants in the suit, agreeing that Joyce McKinney needed more facts to support her allegation that the defendants...
