AP Sues VeriSign To Block News Reports' Distribution

Law360, New York (October 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Associated Press has smacked VeriSign Inc. and subsidiary Moreover Technologies with a copyright and trademark infringement lawsuit accusing them of creating a “false association” with the AP and seeking to prevent them from disseminating AP's news reports without permission.

The AP lodged its complaint on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, asking Judge George B. Daniels for a permanent injunction against the defendants. In addition, the AP asked the court for damages, including punitive damages and “defendants' profits.”...
