Ex-Construction Co. Prez Pleads Guilty In $10M Fraud Case

Law360, Chicago (August 21, 2012, 6:39 PM EDT) -- The former president and majority owner of defunct general contractor Krahl Construction pled guilty Tuesday to mail fraud in Illinois federal court in connection with an alleged kickback and billing fraud scheme that prosecutors say cost two Krahl clients $10 million.

John Paderta, 53, copped to the single charge before U.S. District Judge Matthew Kennelly under a plea deal he struck with the government in which he admitted to working with several Krahl employees to use fake invoices and sham contract bids to boost the costs...
