Armstrong Banned For Life, Tour Titles in Jeopardy

Law360, Houston (August 24, 2012, 6:45 PM EDT) -- Cyclist Lance Armstrong on Friday received a lifetime ban from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and faces the possible loss of his seven Tour de France titles after refusing to fight allegations that he used and trafficked performance-enhancing drugs.

Armstrong had until midnight on Thursday to agree to submit to an arbitration to contest the USADA’s “overwhelming proof of doping,” but declined, resulting in a lifetime suspension and the disqualification of his competitive results from Aug. 1, 1998, through the present, the agency said.
