Omnicare Settles FCA Kickback Suit Over $25M Acquisition

Law360, New York (August 24, 2012, 7:29 PM EDT) -- Omnicare Inc. has agreed to settle a whistleblower suit alleging the company paid kickbacks to the owners of a pharmaceutical benefits company during the company's purchase and submitted false claims to government health programs, according to an Illinois federal court filing Thursday.

The company reached a settlement-in-principle with the whistleblower, ending claims over nursing home pharmacy contracts it had allegedly clinched after paying kickbacks as part of $25 million purchase of pharmaceutical benefits manager Total Pharmacy Services LLC in 2004, according to the hearing notification....
