Magazine Subscribers Can't Drop Suit Against Time Unit

Law360, New York (August 27, 2012, 4:26 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey federal judge on Friday said a group of magazine subscribers couldn't try to dismiss their suit against a Time Inc. unit over deceptive renewal notices, saying such a dismissal would be unfair to the defendants after six years of litigation.

The plaintiffs had in June sought to voluntarily dismiss their suit against consumer magazine distributor Synapse Group Inc., saying the New Jersey federal court now lacked subject matter jurisdiction under the Class Action Fairness Act. They wanted the suit dismissed in order to...
