Teachbook Changes Name To End Facebook Trademark Suit

Law360, Philadelphia (September 4, 2012, 6:08 PM EDT) -- Facebook Inc. agreed to drop its trademark suit against Teachbook.com LLC on Friday after the social networking site for teachers consented to move forward with a new name, the companies announced in a statement.

Under the settlement agreement reached between the two companies, Teachbook will continue to operate under the name TeachQuest, ending the case Facebook has been pursuing against the Northbrook, Ill.-based Teachbook since 2011. The social media giant had argued that users of Teachbook — a social networking site marketed for teachers — were likely to think the site was operated by Facebook.
