Shoe Seller DSW Settles 3,000-Worker Wage-And-Hour Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (September 6, 2012, 4:38 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Thursday preliminarily approved a settlement resolving a wage-and-hour class action on behalf of over 3,000 employees of shoe retailer DSW Inc., saying the decision to slash plaintiffs' attorneys’ fees and cut an incentive award resolved his concerns about the deal.

“I’ll sign off on this,” U.S. District Judge George H. Wu told attorneys for DSW and the plaintiffs on Thursday, pointing to changes in the $625,000 settlement that reduced attorneys’ fees from $208,333 to $156,250 and lowered the named plaintiff’s incentive...
