Bankrupt Hawker Seeks OK For $2.9M Land Sale To Wichita

Law360, New York (September 7, 2012, 3:52 PM EDT) -- Hawker Beechcraft Inc. asked a New York bankruptcy judge Thursday to allow it to sell a strip of highway-adjacent property to Wichita, Kan., for $2.9 million, saying it feared the city would take the land through eminent domain.

The bankrupt aircraft maker said it had little use for the roughly 423,000-square-foot patch of land along U.S. 54 in Wichita, and that selling the land now would bring a better return for investors than if the city seizes the land for a planned highway expansion.
