Judge Won't Let Goodrich Deflect Blame For Superfund Site

Law360, New York (September 13, 2012, 7:30 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday shot down Goodrich Corp.'s attempt to pin partial liability on the U.S. government in a Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act dispute over contaminated water, finding the company's summary judgment motion premature.

Goodrich asked U.S. District Judge Philip A. Gutierrez to declare the U.S. government liable under CERCLA to the same extent as the aerospace company for pollution and remediation efforts regarding hazardous waste disposal at a Superfund site in Southern California.
