Pa. High Court Orders Review Of Voter ID Restrictions

Law360, New York (September 18, 2012, 5:04 PM EDT) -- The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Tuesday vacated a lower court’s ruling upholding the state’s contentious voter identification law, asking the lower court to first review the state’s efforts to provide identification cards with easier access.    

In a 4-2 ruling, the panel said that the Commonwealth Court must first review if the law and the state’s methods of issuing the voter ID cards would ensure that voters would not be unfairly deprived of their ability to vote, and noted that if the lower court found the implementation...
