Coke Uses Lerach's Plea To Stymie Shareholder Case

Law360 (October 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Soft drink giant Coca-Cola Co. has asked an Atlanta judge presiding over a shareholders lawsuit to deny class certification on the grounds that the plaintiffs' attorney, William Lerach, employed the same tactics in this case that got him indicted on criminal charges.

Coke has argued that Lerach had “engaged in the same sort of tactics” that he admitted to when he pled guilty in August to his involvement in a scheme to pay kickbacks to clients to ensure lead counsel status, referring to a plaintiffs' $75,000...
