Panera Franchisee To Settle Race Bias Claims

Law360, New York (September 25, 2012, 5:49 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Monday gave an initial nod to a settlement reached to resolve a proposed class's allegations that one of the largest Panera Bread Co. franchise owners discriminated against black employees.

U.S. District Judge Gary L. Lancaster granted preliminary approval to a settlement reached between lead plaintiff Guy Vines and Panera franchisee Covelli Enterprises Inc., which would resolve discrimination claims against Covelli.
