Verizon Protest Upends $1.6B Federal Wireless Contract

Law360, New York (September 25, 2012, 6:59 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office has sustained Verizon Wireless' protest of a $1.6 billion contract solicitation for governmentwide Wi-Fi services, upending the procurement on the ground that it unduly restricted competition, according to a decision released Tuesday.

Verizon protested the terms of a General Services Administration solicitation for commercial wireless telecommunications products and services offered under companies' Federal Supply Schedule contracts, saying the solicitation's terms were “inconsistent with customary commercial practice and unduly restrictive of competition.” The solicitation sought contractor participation in a newly centralized governmentwide...
