Whistleblowers Behind Texas' High Fraud Settlement Recovery

Law360, Dallas (September 27, 2012, 7:45 PM EDT) -- Private whistleblowers are driving Texas' recovery of Medicaid fraud settlements with pharmaceutical companies, which have paid Texas more than any other state —at least $354 million since 1991, according to a report released Thursday by Public Citizen.

The study found 2012 was a record year for state and federal recovery from pharmaceutical manufacturers, with the industry paying out $6.6 billion in settlements to governments through July.
