Willis Group Settles Sex Discrimination Suit For $8.5M

Law360, New York (October 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A class of 180 current and former women officers at Willis Group Holdings Ltd. have secured initial court approval for an $8.5 million settlement over charges that the insurance broker discriminated against them on the basis of gender.

Judge Gerard E. Lynch of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York granted preliminary approval Friday to a consent degree outlining the terms of the settlement, which would leave each class member with roughly $50,000.
