$9M Settlement OK'd In TCPA Auto-Dialing Class Action

Law360, New York (October 1, 2012, 4:02 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Thursday approved a $9 million settlement between call center and outsourcing company AllianceOne Receivables Management Inc. and a class of plaintiffs who alleged the company violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act by placing prerecorded calls to their cellphones.

In their 2008 complaint, the plaintiffs asserted two class claims against AllianceOne under the TCPA, alleging that the company placed telephone calls to their cellphones without “prior express consent,” using an “automatic telephone dialing system” and using an “artificial or prerecorded voice.”
