NLRB Tells News-Press Publisher To Bargain With Union

Law360, New York (October 1, 2012, 11:24 PM EDT) -- The National Labor Relations Board issued a cease-and-desist order Thursday against the publisher of the Santa Barbara News-Press and ordered the company to bargain in good faith with the union representing the newspaper's employees.

A three-member panel of the NLRB affirmed an administrative law judge's 2010 decision against Ampersand Publishing LLC regarding a freelance nonunion investigative reporter who was hired for a previously unionized position and ordered the publisher to stop moving union work to nonunion contract workers.
