Ex-Navy Contractors To Pay $14M To End CERCLA Suit

Law360, New York (October 1, 2012, 10:19 PM EDT) -- The U.S. on Monday secured a $14 million settlement from two companies it says were responsible under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act for solid wastes and hazardous substances released from an old Navy industrial plant.

Chemical manufacturing company Hercules Inc., which became a unit of Ashland Inc. in 2008, and Rockland Automation Inc. were sued in October 2011 for the cleanup and mitigation costs incurred by the federal government at the Naval Weapons Industrial Reserve Plant in McGregor, Texas.
