Verizon, AT&T, Others Face Flurry Of Fiber Optics Suits
Law360, New York (October 3, 2012, 1:07 PM EDT) -- AT&T Inc., Verizon Communications Inc., TimeWarner Cable Inc. and 13 other companies were hit with a flood of patent infringement suits in Delaware federal court Monday alleging their communications networks, systems and components infringe several fiber optic systems patents held by GlobeTecTrust LLC.
The suits seek injunctions preventing the defendants from infringing GlobeTecTrust’s patents, and also seek damages, attorneys' fees and other costs, according to the complaints. GlobeTecTrust alleges the cable, Internet and telephone service providers use data transmission systems that infringe its various patents. None of the defendants have licenses or authorization to use the patents, the plaintiff contends....
