US Polo Association Wants Trial In Ralph Lauren IP Fight

Law360, New York (October 3, 2012, 7:24 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Polo Association argued Wednesday that sunglasses the sporting association sells do not violate a court order preventing it from infringing Polo Ralph Lauren Holdings Inc.'s trademark horseman logo, saying the issue needs a trial.

A court order prevents USPA from using a Ralph Lauren-like logo on fragrances, but no court has considered whether that injunction stretches to sunglasses, a lawyer for USPA argued at a hearing before U.S. District Judge Robert W. Sweet.
