DOJ Ends Probe Of Hearst's Stake In MediaNews

Law360 (October 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has wrapped up its review of Hearst Corp.’s equity stake in its main competitor MediaNews Group Inc. after concluding that the newspaper companies have resolved certain antitrust issues.

The DOJ’s antitrust division said Thursday that it has completed its investigation because Hearst’s $317 million deal will not give the company a controlling interest in MediaNews.
